As 2019 draws to a close we celebrate our final Pinup of the Month for the year and publish our final Pinup of the Month interview. Here she is, Dottie May!
We have been super impressed with Dottie May's entries this year, her photos are fantastic quality and her bio's are short, smart and sassy. This lady is all about loving yourself for who you are and celebrating Pinups of all sizes - because we come in all sizes and shapes!
How did you choose your Pinup name?
My great grandmothers name is Dottie May
Why do you love pinup? ️
I love pinup because it makes me who I am. It gives me confidence that I don’t have when I’m in regular clothing. I get to see my girls that are in my chapter of Karb Kittens of Eastern Pennsylvania and it really just makes me feel like I’m home.
What's your favourite beauty tip?
My favorite beauty tip is when doing makeup, add a shimmery enhancer to your foundation to give your skin a dewy look!
What’s your favourite aspect of the Pinup and Rockabilly subculture
My favorite is aspect of the pinup rockabilly culture is how it feels like family at every event you go to. You don’t know everyone but you end up loving everyone in the end.
When did you know that pinup was the right thing for you?
I knew pinup was perfect for me when I was told I was too fat to be a pinup. I proved that person wrong and did my best to look my best and accept everyone.
What advice would you like to give to new pinups
My advice to new Pinup’s is to just ask. Ask to help with hair and makeup. Ask to help pick out outfits and schedule shoots. It’s our jobs as pinup veterans to help those who want to start!
What's your favourite season?
My favorite season is Spring! Not too hot and not too cold!
What do you love most about the holidays?
My favorite part about the holidays is going to the Christmas Eve service at church and sing then opening presents with my momma and dad early in the morning then seeing my neice, nephew, and siblings later on!
We also love the togetherness that this time of the year brings, with new families and old - and with Pinup families!
