Pinup of the Month August '19 - Sweet Ruby Bluez

Say hi to Sweet Ruby Bluez, she's our Pinup of the Month for August. She loves the beauty and freedom that Pinup brings to a world in need, and being able to share in and celebrate the victories of others.

We've loved getting to know Ruby more and we're sure you will to :D

How did you choose your Pinup name?

It took me two years to come up with my Pin-Up name (4 if you factor in how long I have been doing Pin-Up). My second contest I called myself Miss Ruby. Thinking I needed more of a catchy name I used a Facebook name creator and came up with Miss Ruby Sweetcheeks lol Still not entirely happy (maybe because of how it came to be) I settled for Sweet Ruby Bluez. "Sweet Ruby" because of my beginning and Bluez because it took a serious of unfortunate events for me to fall in love with Pin-Up. (And a teeny bit to do with Ol Frankie himself and jazz music!! I am all over the place).

Why do you love pinup?

Pin-Up to me has given me the courage to face each and everyday. I found a way to communicate with the world that I can be the shelter if they need. When you are a true reflection of yourself the World gravitates towards you. There is so much ugliness in the World these days that I am incredibly humbled and honoured to be able to express myself in this way.

Would you like to share your favourite beauty tip?

After a day of heavy make-up and sweat I love a great deep cleaning mask with a nice moisturizer. BLISS!

What’s your favourite aspect of the Pinup and Rockabilly subculture?

That Pin-Up and Rockabilly is for everyone. It is a safe place to artistically Express who you are freed of judgement and shame.

When did you know that pinup was the right thing for you?

After the Grease, Gears and Grooves contest. The West Coast Pin-Ups provided this incredible warm, welcoming experience. The host, Dixie Delight, made sure that we all felt included. I really appreciated the time it took yo introduce me to the Dolls and ease my nerves. The whole time on stage I felt like I was amongst friends even though I just travelled 16 hrs and just met all of them for the first time. While on stage I thought to myself that I would be happy if any one of these girls won. I mean we all want to win but I also wanted them each to win. I thought that highly of these women. When I was crowned Queen I was in absolute shock. I knew then I had to lead by example and become somebody worthy of these women to look up to. For the first time in all my years I felt like I belong. As tears rolled down my cheeks I knew it was right. I found a way to reach women and celebrate each others victories. I found my place in the World.

What advice would you like to give to new pinups?

Don't be afraid of who you are on the inside. Honour that little girl and let her fly.

What's your favourite animal and why?

Cats, of course! We do have 9 lol they are so soft and fluffy and incredibly low maintenance (as far as cleaning 9 litter boxes goes lol) I just love everything about them!

Favourite business shoutout!
